School massacre in Finland

There has been another school shooting in Finland, just about 1 year after the other one. According to sources, he left posters at home saying that he had planned the attack since 2002 and that he hated the human race. The posting also included a message saying: “Whole life is war and whole life is pain. And you will fight alone in your personal war”.

I mean there’s not much to say about this obnoxious story. My thoughts go out to the related ones to the victims and to the whole Finnish people. You gotta look over your young ones though, it seems that there are a lot of young men out there in your country having pretty destructive ways of thinking, since Pekka-Erik (the guy who went rampage last year) shared these kinds of thoughts.

I want to end with a short poem however made by the 19th century author Hjalmar Söderberg in his book “Doctor Glas”. Söderberg presents the novel and its powerful ideas very well. “Doctor Glas” is soul-wringing at its best, clearly, quickly, and very forcefully presented. I definitely recommend you to read it.

We want to be loved; failing that, admired; failing that, feared, failing that, hated and despised. At all costs we want to stir up some sort of feeling in others. Our soul abhors a vacuum. At all costs it longs for contact.
