Poem by Nils Ferlin in English

Thou dark little lantern in this dark endless night,
alas! how intimate and helpless thy gleam is wander.
Thou little little lantern in this immense and endless night,
thy gleam is fraught with danger and fluster.

The wise have their sagacity; their hinds have their laugh,
for they do not understand their intentions.
Thou fading little lantern in this dark night,
where men freeze into stone formations.

  1. tegis says:

I almost got it to rhyme. I think. lol

  2. Elizabeth says:

“A passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into none the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducements or justification.”

    -George Washington’s Farewell Address

The whole document is worth the read.

Beautiful post, by the way 🙂
