A carne não vale para EU = Meat is not OK for EU

European Union has done it again. The EU is often accused of constructing a “Fortress Europe” which is preoccupied with its own problems and interests. Now we have just another proof of that this is correct. Let me tell you the story in brief.

There once was an Irish farmer who sold a lot of meat. Therefore, this happy Irish leprechaun was filthy rich.

But time goes by and changes. Suddenly, a strange decease struck Europe, and also Ireland, a decease called the mad cow decease. So the happy Irish leprechaun had to close down for awhile. Then he wasn’t so happy anymore.

When the Irish leprechaun (his name was Paddy, but that is not so important) opened up his store again he noticed that people didn’t like to buy meat from him anymore. He couldn’t understand why. But then he saw a newly opened shop that was called “Brazil”, so he tripped along and took a look at the place. And he found out they were selling MEAT, and from BRAZIL, of all places. Now the Irish leprechaun named Paddy was mighty angry so he wrote a letter of complaint to the court of appeal of the European Union in Brussels. The court noticed his complaints and therefore sent EU-spies to Brazil to investigate this further. Sadly for poor Paddy though, the spies came home more or less empty-handed. They even said that the Brazilian farmers were doing a good job!

This wasn’t good news for the Irish leprechaun named Paddy. He had hoped for something completely different of course. So now he gathered around other leprechaun friends and spread out rumors about the Brazilian farmer and his happy family you see here on the picture above. He also hired some spies of his own to go to Brazil and make his own investigation. The Irish team came to the brilliant conclusion that everything pretty much sucked in Brazil, that the farmers were beating their cattle and their wifes and Brazil in general was the place in our world that God forgot. And more important – they didn’t even know what the mad cow decease was!! Terrible! What an outrage!

But Paddy is now a happy Irish leprechaun again because now the EU has put up tariffs and trade bans towards Brazilian meat producers. In brief, this means that Brazil cannot export one of their most important products to one of their most important markets anymore. It also means that prices on meat products will skyrocket in a near future in Europe, because of the trade ban.

But why would a Irish leprechaun named Paddy care about poor European consumers and that he and the EU has doomed Brazil’s economy to recession?

He’s just another happy leprechaun …

Support free trade! Down with the EU!
