Club activities in Sweden on extinction

Club activities and community life are sure on the low right now in Sweden. Is it one thing that you connect the Social Democrats in Sweden with it is the popular club activities on mob level. But things sure have changed since the 70s.

I was buying a membership card today at my local tenants’ association. They have a gym that is very price worthy (plus it is really near, believe me, you really appreciate those things when you live in a Nordic country during winter time). When I was there I took my time to talk to one of the real enthusiasts for this tenants’ association, and he told me a very interesting story about the history of decay of this organization. During the 70s they were over 100 people who were active within the organization; nowadays they are only 3 left and 2 are leaving next term. Talk about a mind change-over! I think this is a good example on how society has developed. Nowadays, people seek their own individual pleasures and joy – not a collective one. Hopefully, this positive development will continue and the gym I’m going to will be taken cared of by some company instead which can make profit from it and deliver both better quality and more job opportunities for the tenants living here.

May Oðin bless capitalism! =)
