About Nordic Mythology

Nordic Mythology (Asatro, Asatrú) is definitely on the uprise!  It seems to me that at last has the old custom got it’s recognition as a non-rascistic religion and starting to gain some serious respect both in Iceland and in Sweden. It is just so sad that the old custom has been linked so much with the extreme-right the last couple of years. It is such a shame, because it is a part of our culture and our national heritage here in the Northern countries. And as far as I am concerned, it’s something that we should be proud of. The neo-Nazis started to adopt these things during the 90’s without knowing anything about it. Asatro is built on the basics of a disbelief towards authorities, freedom in all forms and a closeness towards nature and the bond between humans and earth. It is in all similar to the different native religions that were practiced in the Americas before of great variety.

It is great to know your own history. Living without it is to live without a spine …
