Foreigners’ comments on Sweden make me sick sometimes. It is quite a laugh too when you read CNN’s summary of the Swedish election. They end it up with; Which Abba songs best sum up the Swedish election? For me, I couldn’t care less about Abba, but obviously the whole surrounding world expect me to be an Abba phanatic. When you, as a Swede, travel abroad, you will get to hear these prejudices:
1. We all love Abba-music
2. Our women walk around topless on the streets
3. We have polarbears as pets
4. We build everything ourselves, piece by piece (probably a legacy from Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA)
5. We are addicted to sex
Some months ago a guy from England who had been living here during some years now, wrote a guide to Sweden for outsiders. According to this author, we are nationalistic sex-freaks who are skeptic towards everything outside our borders (especially Germany and USA for some reason), plus that most of us are still very positive towards communism.
Well, that’s us in a nutshell!
