America Vera Zavala – La Izquierdista Global

When being finished with my new blog, I decided to search for other interesting homepages which I could leave comments on. America Vera Zavala does not have her own blog but she has an extraordinary beautiful homepage, for which I could warmly recommend a visit. America Vera Zavala is, for those who don’t know, a young left-winged debater, author and (former?) politician. Around the turn of the millennium, and some years ahead, America Vera Zavala was slightly well known to public in Sweden, because of her hard attacks at the politics of United States and her fight for “Deltagande Demokrati” (Participated Democracy). She is also one of the founders of the left-winged organization, Attac, in Sweden and through the years she has for example written a book that’s called “En annan värld är möjlig” together with the liberal author and philosopher, Johan Norberg.

I have been bumped into America Vera Zavala several times during my days as active in politics. One of the first times was when she and the former leader of the youth organization of the Leftist Party of Sweden was interviewed in their own newspaper “Röd Press” and declared that they called themselves communists, and said that they referred it to a honorable Swedish tradition. I thought about it then which honor they were talking about, if it was that the Swedish communists supported the Soviet Union and spied on us for them, or are they referring to when they were having fiestas because of the Red Khmer Revolution of Cambodia in the happy 70’s? One could just wonder…

Another time was when she were interviewed by some daily newspaper of Sweden about the Operation Desert Storm (War on Iraq), and she said that she could understand the suicide bombers and guerrillas that were killing innocents after the end of the war, because that their struggle is fair and just. The interesting thing is that the proud founder of Swedish Attac therefore supported Saddam, and indirect were opposing for more years of oppression against the Kurds in the north and to all other inhabitants of the country Iraq.

I will end this session with a German word; traurig!
